A 50-mile diversion is in place, and that's no small detour! Suffolk Highways is working hard to improve the major route, but it's causing quite a disruption. The official detour, as outlined by the Suffolk County Council, is an extensive journey, adding considerable time to your travels.
But here's where it gets controversial... The extended route is necessary to accommodate larger vehicles like HGVs, which can't navigate the smaller rural roads. So, while some drivers might be tempted to take shortcuts, it's a no-go for those larger vehicles, and the detour is the only safe option.
