Hailing from San Diego, Pletcher has already made a splash in the competitive swimming scene. As a sophomore at Point Loma High School, he showcased his versatility as a two-sport athlete, excelling in both swimming and football. At the CIF State Championships, he proved his mettle, claiming the runner-up spot in the 200 freestyle with an impressive time of 1:35.63, and securing 4th place in the 100 free (44.19).
But here's where it gets even more exciting: Pletcher's performance at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships in Austin showcased his potential. He set multiple personal bests, including a remarkable 43.70 in the 100 free swim-off, and placed 4th in the 200 free (1:35.73). His additional top times in the 50 free (20.15), 100 fly (48.56), and 200 fly (1:47.85) further solidified his talent.
And this is the part most people miss—Pletcher's commitment to Stanford is a strategic move. Despite being an honorable mention in SwimSwam's early rankings, his times are already competitive on the collegiate level. In the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships, he would have placed 33rd in the 200 free, tied for 42nd in the 100 free, and 42nd in the 200 fly. With a season and a half to go before his collegiate debut, he's poised to make a significant impact.
