Bold headline-worthy update: Huddersfield Giants land a versatile new outside back to reinforce a stretched squad.
Huddersfield Giants have brought in Tanguy Zenon, a 23-year-old France international, on a deal that runs through the end of the season. The former Halifax Panthers standout was left available after Halifax’s financial troubles led to their winding up earlier this month.
The signing comes as the Giants, currently dealing with injuries, hope Zenon will be fit to feature in Friday’s Super League clash away at Castleford Tigers.
Head coach Luke Robinson explained to BBC Radio Leeds that Zenon’s arrival isn’t as simple as a straightforward visa transfer. He said, “He’s got a visa for Halifax, but it’s not as simple as just swapping it over.”
Zenon is valued for adding depth and physicality to Huddersfield’s outside backs, a priority the club had emphasized at the season’s outset. The departure of Niall Evalds and Adam Swift left a gap that needed to be filled, and Zenon is expected to provide the cover the team needs as they pursue immediate results.
