Mike Colter, the star of Luke Cage, Confirms MCU Return Talks with Marvel
Mike Colter has confirmed that he is in talks with Marvel to return as Luke Cage in the MCU. While he hasn't specified when his return will be, he has left little doubt that he will reprise his role as the hero.
Colter's confirmation comes after he and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) were spotted in New York City during the filming of the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. This led to speculation that the 'Heroes for Hire' team might be making their MCU debuts.
Colter further hinted at his potential return by posting an image of his character on Instagram Stories. He told The Direct, "I have been talking to Marvel, and Jessica [Jones]’ back, and there’s a lot of story left to tell, and I just think that it’d be a shame for me not to pop back up."
When asked about any unfinished business with Luke Cage, Colter replied, "Yeah, absolutely. I’m always looking for something different, interesting, and challenging. Luke Cage fits that bill perfectly."
With Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones, it makes sense that Matt Murdock (Daredevil) would enlist more of his fellow Defenders for support. The speculation is that Cage might appear in the season 2 finale, setting the stage for a more prominent role in Season 3.
The season 2 synopsis teases a battle for New York's soul, with Mayor Wilson Fisk imposing martial law and hunting down Daredevil. Matt Murdock will fight back from the shadows, aiming to bring down Fisk's corrupt empire and redeem his city. The question remains: Who else will join Murdock's 'army' in this epic clash?
