Don't Fall for the New Street Fighter 6 Season 4 DLC 'Leak' Rumors
Street Fighter 6 fans have been eagerly awaiting new content for months, and they might have to wait a little longer for the next substantial update. While Alex is confirmed as the third Season 3 DLC character, there's been some buzz about potential characters for Season 4.
Recently, a supposed "leak" about the Season 4 DLC lineup for Street Fighter 6 has been circulating on social media. However, as with any online rumor, it's important to approach it with caution.
The rumor originated on a specific Reddit thread, which has since been removed by moderators due to a lack of sufficient sources. The poster, who initially believed the information came from a "credible leaker," has now disavowed their previous statements, citing further research and journalist coverage as reasons for the debunking.
The names of the alleged fighters mentioned in the leak are Vega, Makoto, Menat, and Q. These names first surfaced on Reddit eight months ago and have been mentioned occasionally since, but there's no evidence of the leaker having insider information.
Interestingly, a poll conducted a few months ago ranked three out of the four fighters in the top 10 for Season 4 DLC character popularity. Makoto was the top pick, followed by Vega at 7 and Menat at 9, while Q was a bit lower at 19. These characters have a strong connection to the game's history and story.
Makoto, a popular karate girl, is one of the few big Street Fighter 3 characters who haven't appeared in the last two entries. Vega, a classic boss, hasn't made his way to SF6 yet, joining M. Bison and Sagat as DLC characters. Menat and Q could further develop the story beats set up at the end of Street Fighter 5, which recently sparked discussions about Rose's potential return for Street Fighter 6.
While the leak might be questionable, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Capcom has a history of leaks, including the full launch and Year 1 DLC roster for Street Fighter 6, and an accidental costume leak last year. However, this particular leak lacks substantial evidence to support its claims.
Capcom's recent decision to skip reveals at major tournaments means players will likely have to wait until June for the official Season 4 DLC announcement. So, fans will have to wait another four to five months to find out who will be joining the game after Ingrid.
