On the night of January 24, just after 10 PM, law enforcement received a call expressing concern for the wellbeing of a woman in the Russell Street area of North Shields. Reports indicated that an altercation had occurred between two individuals, resulting in a severe head injury to the woman involved.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the victim was identified as 40-year-old Lisa Denton, a resident of North Shields. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Lisa was in critical condition upon her arrival at the hospital and tragically succumbed to her injuries the following morning, January 25.
In response to this deeply concerning situation, the Northumbria Police Major Investigation Team promptly initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Lisa's untimely death. This led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder, who has since been named Liam Moor, residing on Telford Street in East Howdon.
On January 26, Moor was officially charged with manslaughter and is currently held in custody, awaiting his appearance in Bedlington Magistrates’ Court. Additionally, a woman in her 50s was detained on allegations of assisting an offender; however, she has since been released on bail while further investigations continue.
