The Fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear Collection by Veronica Beard is a bold statement in the fashion world. With each new season, designers Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard embrace a distinct theme that sets the tone for their collections. Previously, they explored the rugged charm of the Wild West with prairie dresses and novelty jeans suitable for a Yellowstone watch party. Their Resort collection celebrated the essence of American sportswear. However, this time, they ventured into a more abstract realm for inspiration.
In their showroom, the Veronicas showcased a mood board for the upcoming fall season, aptly titled “Trailblazers.” This board featured striking images of influential women such as Joan Didion, captured leaning out of her Stingray; Bethann Hardison, confidently resting her hand on her hip; Donna Karan, elegantly draped in a fur coat; and Chloé Zhao, proudly holding her Oscars. While these notable figures may not be directly reflected in every piece of the collection, the designers sought to encapsulate their spirit through powerful silhouettes, eye-catching outerwear, and a palette of rich yet understated colors.
A noticeable influence from traditional menswear permeates the collection, embodying a "borrowed-from-the-boys" aesthetic. "We draw inspiration from those classic, iconic styles but infuse them with a touch of glamour," Swanson Beard explains. The garments are designed with a woman’s figure in mind, ensuring they offer a flattering fit. One standout piece is a rusty brown suit featuring a jacket that boasts statement power shoulders, a tailored waist, and cabochon buttons, reflecting both strength and elegance. Additionally, there's a reversible olive nylon funnel-neck jacket lined with faux fur, which serves as a clear homage to Amelia Earhart, another prominent figure on their mood board.
For the Veronicas, weaving narratives into their designs is just as crucial as the icons that inspire them. They aim to create clothing that women can wear on both ordinary days and extraordinary occasions. As Swanson Beard passionately states, "We create pieces that we envision a woman wearing while she accomplishes remarkable things, whether it's a stylish blazer, a stunning coat, or the most exquisite dress at a party where she might meet the love of her life."
